China Language and Cultural Exchange Camp

ESL4asia Educational Services has been bringing Chinese students to St. Mark's Lutheran School in the past years. Most of the Chinese students had a wonderful time and great memory of St. Mark's and its programs. The Chinese students have learned great lessons about American culture, and improved their English skills, especially in listening and speaking. This study aboard program truly enhanced the Chinese students' global version and prepared them to become international citizens. Many of the Chinese students had a clear goal for their future after they return home because of this unique U.S. study experience.

This year, to echo the global theme in the World Exposition that is going to be held in Shanghai, China, ESL4asia expands and features a China Language and Cultural Exchange Camp in Shanghai. The camp provides summer enrichment by tailoring the best academic and cultural programs. This program offers four modules for campers to experience Chinese culture and to make friends from different countries. Campers will learn the Chinese language while participating in camp activities with students from around the world. There will be weekly excursions that take them to famous sightseeing tourist spots.

The followings are the highlights of Shanghai camp:
World Expo---Better City, Better Life
World Expositions are galleries of human inspirations and thoughts. First held in London 1851, the Expos are prominent and grand events for economic, scientific, technological and cultural exchanges. They are also important platforms for displaying historical artwork, exchanging innovative ideas, demonstrating esprit de corps and looking towards the future.
Learning Module:
Chinese courses are offered by Normal University Shanghai.
Cultural Exchange Module:
Interact with students from different countries and learn about Chinese traditional arts & crafts, Shiao Lin Kung Fu, calligraphy, Tai Chi and more.
Outdoor Adventure Module:
Experience outdoor extracurricular activities such as rock-climbing, camping and BBQs, aquatic sports, out-bound development training, physical conditioning tests and more.
Tour Module:
Visit Su Zhou and the sites of Shanghai including The Oriental Pearl Tower and The Bund.
The Camp Site: Shanghai Oriental Land
Shanghai Oriental Land is situated in the Qingpu District of Shanghai, on the southeast side of Dianshan Lake. It covers an area of 5,600 Chinese acres including 2,000 Chinese acres of water surface.

We witness students who had participated in our cultural exchange programs grow and blossom, and how this type of cultural and language exchange program had made an impact to their study life. This summer, ESL4asia would like to invite St Mark's students to join our 2010 Shanghai World Expo Camp. The program fee is US$ 1180.00. However, ESL4aisa would like to offer a special rate of US$ 650.00 to St Mark's students. This fee does not include airfare and a visa to China. For more information, you can check out the website for more detail at www.ESL4ASIA.com. A camp video is also available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skBLnvK_HD8

We look forward to sharing our program to you and hope to see your students in Shanghai this summer. We will coordinate with our tour agency for finding you good airfare.

If you have any question, please contact Sally Wu, ESL4asia@hotmail.com or call us 626-641-7779
