REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Face Shields need to be worn by all students during snack time and lunch recess. Please make sure your daughter/son have a face shield with them. The School Office has them available for $5. Everytime a student needs one your child will be charge $5. Thank you.
IOWA ASSESSMENTS/STANDARDIZED TESTING:
5th-8th testing will be Tuesday, September 21, and Thursday, September 23.
4th grade testing will be September 20, 21, and 23.
All students will test during the morning hours before lunch.
To facilitate your child’s success on the upcoming tests, please be sure he/she:
-Arrives at school on time, which is on or before 7:55 AM for 5th-8th Grades and on or before 8:15 AM for 3rd and 4th Grades.
-Gets a good night’s sleep.
-Eats breakfast before coming to school.
-Brings a nutritious snack.
We kindly ask parents to schedule student medical appointments for the afternoon hours to avoid missing any tests. Late arriving students will wait in the School Office until there’s a break in the testing schedule. Any missed tests will be made-up either within the week of testing or the following week.
September tuition was due September 1st. You have through Friday, September 10th to pay tuition. On Monday, September 13th, a $15.00 late fee will be charged. We accept checks, cash and online bill pay through your bank.
If you are considering paying your tuition in full for the school year to receive the 2% discount, the final date to do so would be Friday, September 10, 2021.
TRAVEL GUIDELINES FOR UNVACCINATED INDIVIDUALS
Upon return from international travel ONLY, we ask that you have your child tested for COVID-19. If you provide St. Mark’s with the student’s negative test result, the student may return immediately to school. If you choose to not have your child tested, the student is required to quarantine at home for seven (7) days from the date of arrival back into the United States.
8TH GRADE POPSICLE FUNDRAISER - NOW THROUGH OCTOBER 22ND
We are back! Come grab a treat and beat the heat, help support our 8th Graders. Snacks and Ice cream are for sale by the Fellowship Hall and by the upper blacktop tables. From 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday from now through October 22nd. Roar on Lions!
SCRIP- WELCOME BACK!
We are up and running! Stop by the Scrip Room (Room 6) to see what’s new and exciting! The Scrip Room is open Monday-Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

LATE DELIVERY OF LUNCHES, HOMEWORK, AND P.E. CLOTHES
To mimimize classroom interruptions for your children, we ask that all forgotten lunches, books and homework is left at the “drop off/pick up table.” It is the students responsibility to check this table as we do not call students down to the School Office.
We remind all parents that fast food lunches and snacks may not be purchased and dropped off for students. Please see page 18 of our Parent Handbook.

Every Wednesday, a chapel offering is collected. Our chapel offerings is used to support Lutheran Social Services, Navajo Lutheran Missions, Child Fund Philippines, and our local Action Food Pantry. Offering envelopes for the year were passed out at registration. If you did not receive a set, please ask in the School Office. The offering will be collected Wednesdays during chapel. Please consider contributing to these worthy causes through supporting our weekly chapel offering. Thank you.

The children will learn hymns, parts of the liturgy, anthems, and accompaniments on percussion
instruments. We’ll work on creating a beautiful sound with good diction, some music-reading skills, and how to read a hymn in the hymnal.
The choirs will sing approximately once per month during Sunday worship at 9:00 AM.

SML CHURCH HAPPENINGS
SML Church ongoing information
Worship is at 9:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary on Sundays and online via Livestream or on demand. All are Welcome! Masks are required for all people inside the building (those actively leading may remove when speaking/singing but will maintain social distance). Sunday School - Every Sunday, children start in worship and then go to class following the children's sermon or before the Message. Children are to be picked up from the class which is located beneath the Sanctuary on the lower patio outside Church Office.
Confirmation Informational Meeting.
1) A Confirmation Information night will be held on Wednesday, Sept 8th at 7PM in the Church Chapel. Confirmation is open to 7th graders or older and is a two year program focused on learning the basics of the Christian faith, Bible and Lutheran teachings. There will also be occasional service and fellowship activities and a retreat. Please join us!!
2) This Sunday, September 12th is God's Work, Our Hands Sunday and we will be highlighting ways to help people have clean drinking water and how to cut back on your own water usage as we better care for God's creation and provisions.
A special presentation by Boy Scout Troop 620 and the San Gabriel Valley Water Board will be held after worship in the Fellowship Hall focusing on practical things you can do to reduce your water usage and bill in your own home, thus helping the entire community. Worship is at 9am in the Sanctuary and the Water Presentation is at 10:10am in the Fellowship Hall.
