ANNOUNCING OUR 33RD ANNUAL VIRTUAL SILENT AUCTION

NOVEMBER 5TH THROUGH NOVEMBER 7TH

"NEW YEAR, NEW LIONS"

In 7 weeks, we will celebrate our 33rd Auction. This is one of our largest fundraisers. Please support the St. Mark’s Lutheran School by purchasing one ticket. 

Register online now for one $25.00 ticket which entitles you:

•To bid online for Auction items over a three-day period, Friday, November 5th, Saturday, November 6th, and Sunday, November 7th

  • To attend the SML VIRTUAL AUCTION EVENT with your family

  • To receive one (1) Raffle Ticket for theSML Tuition Raffle(redeemable for one student’s one month of tuition for the 2021-2022 school year) 

    Sponsor St. Mark’s at one of the seven levels for: online bidding over a three-day period, the SML Virtual Auction Event, and your family name/business logo featured on this Silent Auction website.

    Our 33rd Auction is a family event for the price of only one ticket. Don’t pass up the chance to watch our Virtual Event and to Bid from the comfort of your home. 

 

IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS WHO VOLUNTEERED TO HELP WITH THE AUCTION ON YOUR FAMILY COMMITMENT WORKSHEET:  If you volunteered to help us with the Auction at Registration time, you should have received an email with a form from the Silent Auction. We’re asking you to select the area in which you could volunteer. By completing this form and checking off the area(s) you are interested in, we can quickly delegate work. Please complete the form and submit by 9/19/2021. Remember, we are only 7 weeks away from the Auction – we need your help now! 

 

EARLY BIRD RAFFLE PRIZE: On October 4, 2021, we will raffle off a $100 Amazon gift card. All those who have registered for the Auction by purchasing one (1) ticket and/or sponsored the Auction by October 4th will be eligible to win this Early Bird Raffle Prize. Please note that all Sponsorship levels include your Registration for the Auction allowing you to bid on the items and to watch the virtual Video.

 

5TH GRADE SINGS IN CHURCH CANCELED

The 5th Graders will not sing in Church on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

 

FALL BOOK FAIR SEPTEMBER 23RD – OCTOBER 1ST

FALL BOOK FAIR IS BACK!!!! Books Bring Us Together!" is the theme for our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair to be held in the library September 23- October 1. It will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. except for the afternoon of Friday, October 1 when it will close at 2:00 p.m. for pack-up. PARENTS: We are featuring the Classroom Wish List program and also have gift certificates available for teachers and students. If you would like to volunteer at the Book Fair, please email Ms. Hall at: khall@stmarks.ws and she will send you the schedule. REMINDER: Please add 9.5% tax to all purchases at the fair.

 

IOWA ASSESSMENTS/STANDARDIZED TESTING:

5th-8th testing will be Tuesday, September 21, and Thursday, September 23.

4th grade testing will be September 20, 21, and 23.

All students will test during the morning hours before lunch.

 

To facilitate your child’s success on the upcoming tests, please be sure he/she:

-Arrives at school on time, which is on or before 7:55 AM for 5th-8th Grades and on or before 8:15 AM for 3rd and 4th Grades.

-Gets a good night’s sleep.

-Eats breakfast before coming to school.

-Brings a nutritious snack.

We kindly ask parents to schedule student medical appointments for the afternoon hours to avoid missing any tests.  Late arriving students will wait in the School Office until there’s a break in the testing schedule. Any missed tests will be made-up either within the week of testing or the following week.

BOOSTER CLUB USED CLOTHING SALE

The Booster Club will hold a sale of used uniforms on Friday, October 1st and Friday, November 5th 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. We accept cash and check only.

 

REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Face Shields need to be worn by all students during snack time and lunch recess.  Please make sure your daughter/son has a face shield with them to school.  The School Office has them available for $5. Everytime a student needs one, your child will be charged $5, and it will be added to your account. Thank you.

 

TRAVEL GUIDELINES FOR UNVACCINATED INDIVIDUALS

Upon return from international travel ONLY, we ask that you have your child tested for COVID-19.  If you provide St. Mark’s with the student’s negative test result, the student may return immediately to school.  If you choose to not have your child tested, the student is required to quarantine at home for seven (7) days from the date of arrival back into the United States.

 

8TH GRADE POPSICLE FUNDRAISER - NOW THROUGH OCTOBER 22ND

We are back! Come grab a treat and help support our 8th Graders. Snacks and ice cream are for sale by the Fellowship Hall and by the upper blacktop tables. From 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Monday, through Friday, from now through October 22nd. Roar on Lions!

 

SCRIP- WELCOME BACK!

We are up and running! Stop by the Scrip Room (Room 6) to see what’s new and exciting! The Scrip Room is open Monday-Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Scrip order forms are available in the School Office. If you have any questions or need help with the ins and outs of the program, please stop by and Traci Navarro will be happy to help. Thank you.

 

LATE DELIVERY OF  LUNCHES,  HOMEWORK,  AND P.E. CLOTHES

To mimimize classroom interruptions for your children, we ask that all forgotten lunches, books and homework are left at the “Drop off/Pick up table.” It is the student’s responsibility to check this table as we do not call students down to the School Office.

We remind all parents that fast food lunches and snacks may not be purchased and dropped off for students. Please see page 18 of our Parent Handbook.

 

CHAPEL OFFERING

Every Wednesday, a chapel offering is collected.  Our chapel offerings is used to support Lutheran Social Services, Navajo Lutheran Missions, Child Fund Philippines, and our local Action Food Pantry. Offering envelopes for the year were passed out at registration. If you did not receive a set, please ask in the School Office. The offering will be collected Wednesdays during chapel.  Please consider contributing to these worthy causes through supporting our weekly chapel offering.  Thank you.

SML CHURCH HAPPENINGS

SML Church ongoing information

Worship is at 9:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary on Sundays and online via Livestream or on demand.  All are Welcome!  Masks are required for all people inside the building (those actively leading may remove when speaking/singing but will maintain social distance). The worship is available on our website, https://stmarkshh.com, on https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCf9V2pfd3FQRI5peGTYHMLQ and on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/St.MarksLCHH.

 

Sunday School - Every Sunday, children start in worship and then go to class following the children's sermon or before the Message.  Children are to be picked up from the class which is located beneath the Sanctuary on the lower patio outside Church Office.

Mondays: virtually (phone or email)   9 - 4 pm

Tuesdays: virtually 9-4pm;  In-person 1-5 pm

Wednesdays: in-person 9-5pm, virtually 2-4 pm

Thursdays: in person 9-1pm; virtually 2-4 pm

Fridays: virtually 9-3:30 pm

 

Please know that even if we are not physically in the office, we are still working from remote locations during the virtual times listed above.  In addition, Pastor Jim Mericle is available for emergencies anytime.
