Our annual High School Information Night, originally set for October 18th, 2021, has been postponed.  We will update you with a new date as soon as we have one set.  As high schools send out information to us, it will be updated and available to our families on Schoology.  If we are unable to host the event this year, we will reach out to all schools that have come in previous years for information they would like us to provide to our middle school students and families.

Please check for updates through Schoology in the Parent Group.  When you are logged in, locate the Resource link on the left.  You will find the High School Information folder there.  Please check it weekly to see if any new school information and important deadlines have been posted.  Selecting the best high school is an important decision. Please research all that these high schools are offering and contact the schools directly.

Please join us for the monthly Booster Club Meeting this Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room.

Students can start bringing in their deposits of $5 or more, along with their passbook, every Thursday starting September 30th. If you cannot find your passbook, that’s okay, we can still help you make your deposit. The Mini Mega Bank cannot make change, so please bring only what you would like to deposit. Still want to open an account? No problem! Just email Ms. Williams at with the name of your student and she will get application materials out to you. This is a great way for students to learn about saving, and for parents to save up some money for those big trips that come up in 5th-8th grade.

St. Mark’s is currently interviewing people for a School Secretary position. Applicants will work with FileMaker Pro, QuickBooks, Excel, and Word. This is a 12-month position. The work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Interested applicants should contact Monica Gerardo, Principal, at 626.96.0428.

We are back! Come grab a treat and help support our 8th Graders. Snacks and ice cream are for sale by the Fellowship Hall and by the upper blacktop tables. The items are sold from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, from now through October 22nd. Roar on Lions!

To minimize classroom interruptions for your children, we ask that all forgotten lunches, books and homework are left at the “Drop off/Pick up Table.” It is the student’s responsibility to check this table as we do not call students down to the School Office.

We remind all parents that fast food lunches and snacks may not be purchased and dropped off for students. Please see page 18 of our Parent Handbook.

Every Wednesday, a chapel offering is collected.  Our chapel offerings is used to support Lutheran Social Services, Navajo Lutheran Missions, Child Fund Philippines, and our local Action Food Pantry. If you need Offering Envelopes please ask in the School Office. The offerings are collected Wednesdays during chapel.  Please consider contributing to these worthy causes through supporting our weekly chapel offering.  Thank you.

Last week some of the SML teachers had a chance to showcase their athletic talents in contests against our volleyball and football squads.  The 8th grade and Teacher Team #1 challenged each other in three sets filled with long, competitive, rallies. The teachers took down the Lions 14-25, 27-25, 13-25. The 5th Grade also matched their skills against Teacher Team #1, but fell 10-25, 15-25. Zoe Marie Uyeda- Dominguez (5/5) and Ella Perine (6/6) were both perfect from the serving line in the match.

After keeping it close for the first half, the teachers were outpaced by the Varsity football team who had a strong second half to win 32-6. The 6th grade team trailed at halftime against the teachers, however put on an impressive offensive performance in the second half. A one-handed grab by Matthew Garcia, a tipped reception for a touchdown by Jeremiah Duran, and a key interception by Vadin Shah all contributed to the boys shifting the scoreboard in their favor, 36-34.

Closing out the week of games, the 6th and 7th Grade girls’ volleyball teams faced Teacher Team #2. The 7th grade struggled to protect their own serving line in Set 1 losing 11-25. In the middle of Set 2 the girls rallied behind a strong serving performance by Julissa Rivera, but were unable to top the teachers losing 17-25. The teachers also defeated the 6th grade with scores of 12-25 and 18-25.
