Our annual High School Information Night, originally set for October 18th, 2021, has been cancelled. As high schools send out information to us, it will be updated and available to our families on Schoology.  We will reach out to all schools that have come in previous years for information they would like us to provide to our middle school students and families.

Please check for updates through Schoology in the “Parent Group”.  When you are logged in, locate the Resource link on the left.  You will find the High School Information folder there.  Please check it weekly to see if any new school information and important deadlines have been posted.  Selecting the best high school is an important decision. Please research all that these high schools are offering and contact the schools directly.

Students can start bringing in their deposits of $5 or more, along with their passbook, every Thursday. If you cannot find your passbook, that’s okay, we can still help you make your deposit. The Mini Mega Bank cannot make change, so please bring only what you would like to deposit. Still want to open an account? No problem! Just email Ms. Williams at with the name of your student and she will get application materials out to you. This is a great way for students to learn about saving, and for parents to save up some money for those big trips that come up in 5th-8th grade.

In lieu of the annual Halloween Carnival, the St. Mark's Booster Club will be putting on a Trunk or Treat event on October 29, 2021. The event will take place during school hours on the upper back parking lots. All students may wear a school appropriate Halloween costume and no costume masks or weapons are permitted. If you would like to volunteer, and earn Family Commitment Hours, please contact your Room Parent.

The 3rd Graders will not sing in Church on Sunday, October 10th 2021. Thank you.

Face Shields must be worn by all students during snack time and lunch recess.  Please make sure your daughter/son brings a face shield with them to school.  The School Office has them available for $5. Each time a student picks up a Face Shield from the School Office, your child will be charged $5, and it will be added to your account. Thank you.

The Scrip Room is temporarily closed, but we continue to take Scrip Orders. Please come to the School Office to pick up and drop off completed forms. Once we receive your order and payment, we will notify you within 3 business days for pick up.  If you have any questions or need additional help, Claudia Alcala will be happy to help you. Thank you.

The 5th-8th co-ed cross country team ran their first meet of the season at Charter Oak High School last weekend. With 76 athletes in the competition Peter Santos (7th) led the Lions with a 15th place finish in a time of 23:27. Ryan Tena (7th) ran 24:51 and crossed the finish line in 24th place while Ava Ossa (5th) also finished in the top one third of the field with a time of 24:58 to claim 25th place. Next Race: October 16th @ El Dorado Park, Long Beach

8th Grade Boys’ Volleyball Team #1 brought scrappy defense and a determination to keep the ball alive in their opening match against the 8th grade girls’ team. All three sets saw long rallies, strong serving, and quality offensive play at the net. The girls took set one 25-22 while the boys bounced back to take set two 18-25. In the tie breaker match the girls jumped out to an early lead, but the boys’ team remained focused and gained momentum with solid serving from Taylor Sundstrom and Jeremy Dayton to chip away at the early lead. On an errant pass out of bounds, the girls sealed the set three victory 25-22 to win the match. The fifth and sixth grades met for a second time this season with a similar result. Inconsistent passing meant both teams scored the majority of their points off serves, with Natalie Salas and Andrea Rodriguez leading the way for each of their teams. The sixth grade won the match 11-25, 25-18, 12-15.

The JV football season came to a close on Wednesday with one final game against the SML Varsity squad. The 6th grade trailed 18-0 at half-time, but closed the gap in the second half to put pressure on the 8th graders. With one final possession and trailing by nine, the sixth grade was unable to move the ball downfield sealing a 25-16 win for the 8th grade.

The 7th grade girls’ volleyball team improved their level of passing and communication over last week and took set one 25-20 against Team 2 for the 8th grade boys. The boys built a sizable lead in set two and then nearly let it slip away against the serving of Mia Barajas. Tied at 24-24, the boys took the final two points to win set two 26-24. In the tie-breaker match Chidie Obinwanne led the boys on a long serving run, but once again the girls mounted a comeback only to be stopped in the closing points, 25-23.
