HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION IN SCHOOLOGY

Our annual High School Information Night, originally set for October 18th, 2021, has been cancelled. As high schools send out information to us, it will be updated and available to our families on Schoology.  We have  all schools that have come in previous years for information they would like us to provide to our middle school students and families.

Please check for updates through Schoology in the “Parent Group”.  When you are logged in, locate the Resource link on the left.  You will find the High School Information folder there.  Please check it weekly to see if any new school information and important deadlines have been posted.  Selecting the best high school is an important decision. Please research all that these high schools are offering and contact the schools directly.

MINI MEGA BANK NOW OPEN!

Students can start bringing in their deposits of $5 or more, along with their passbook, every Thursday. If you cannot find your passbook, that’s okay, we can still help you make your deposit. The Mini Mega Bank cannot make change, so please bring only what you would like to deposit. Still want to open an account? No problem! Just email Ms. Williams at mwilliams@stmarks.ws with the name of your student and she will get application materials out to you. This is a great way for students to learn about saving, and for parents to save up some money for those big trips that come up in 5th-8th grade.

REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Face Shields must be worn by all students during snack time and lunch recess.  Please make sure your daughter/son brings a face shield with them to school.  The School Office has them available for $5. Each time a student picks up a Face Shield from the School Office, your child will be charged $5, and it will be added to your account. Thank you.

SPORTS UPDATE

sports

The 8th grade football team faced the SML Teacher Team for one final game of the season. The teachers took the early lead 6-0, but then trailed 18-6 at halftime after giving up two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns. Those first half miscues did not deter the teachers from making a late game surge to pull to within one, 26-27. Aiming to win the game the teachers opted to go for the two- point conversion, but the ball was batted down in the endzone giving the 8th grade a one point win.

In volleyball action, the 8th grade girls continued to show their competitive spirit when they faced Teacher Team #2. They trailed in set one and then fell just short after staging a late comeback, 24-26. The girls tied up the match in set two with a 25-16 victory, but could not hold off the teachers in set three where they lost 18-25. The 5th grade also faced Teacher Team #2. In the two set match the girls only missed six serves as a team and showed much improvement in serve receive. However, putting together second and third pass combinations proved to be inconsistent giving the teachers the edge in the match (12-25, 19-25). Teacher Team #1 returned to the court to face the 7th grade girls. Even though they were without two of their players, the teachers rallied after a sluggish set one (18-25) to easily take the second set, 25-12. The 7th grade mounted an impressive surge late in the tiebreaker set forcing extra points, however they could not seal the victory and lost 26-24.
