BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT – TONIGHT, AUGUST 27th

Our annual Back to School Night is scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight. This is your opportunity to visit your child’s classroom for a brief presentation by the teachers. This year we will have four rotations of fifteen minutes each to help accommodate our families with multiple students. We’ll start the evening in the Gym with a state of the school address by our principal, Dr. Clark. Please remember that this is a PARENTS ONLY EVENT. We end promptly at 8:30 p.m. We ask that parents schedule private conferences should you need extra time to speak with the teachers. We look forward to seeing all parents tonight!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 30TH – K- 8TH GRADE EARLY DISMISSAL

This Friday, August 30th will be a ½ day session for students in Grades K-8th.
Early Dismissal will be at 12:00 noon.
If your child is not a prepaid monthly afternoon or full time daycare student, they MUST be picked up at the 12:00 noon dismissal time. Day Care Rates are $25.00 per student on Early Dismissal Days.

TUITION INFORMATION FOR THOSE PAYING IN FULL

If you were considering paying your tuition in full for the year to receive the 2% discount, the final date to do this is this Friday, August 30th.

CHAPEL OFFERING

Every Wednesday, a chapel offering is collected. Our chapel offering is used to support Lutheran Social Services, Navajo Lutheran Missions, Child Fund Philippines, and our local Action Food Pantry. Offering envelopes for the year were passed out at registration. If you did not receive a set, please ask in the school office. The offering will be collected Wednesdays during chapel. Please consider contributing to these worthy causes through supporting our weekly chapel offering. Thank you.

STUDENTS MUST BRING REUSABLE WATER CONTAINERS TO SCHOOL

We have several water stations on campus where students may refill their water containers. We strongly encourage our students to bring their own water containers and avoid using disposable plastic water bottles. In the past year, the value of recycled goods has plunged so low that recycling companies are paying to get rid of the recycled materials. In light of this issue and our goal to reduce plastic waste, we remind our SML families that students should only bring their reusable water containers to school. Make sure your name is clearly marked on your reusable water containers. Thank you for helping us take care of our planet Earth.

FUN & FITNESS

This week kicks off our Fun & Fitness Fundraising and Contest that will run for four weeks until Fun & Fitness Day, Friday, September 20th. Donation turn-in days are August 30th, September 6th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th. Please see attached flyer for details. If you want more information or want to help, please email mary5quesada@gmail.com.

POLICY CHANGE: ARRIVAL TIME FOR STUDENTS IN 5TH – 8TH GRADE

Students in Grades 5-8 may arrive at 7:35 A.M. and report to the lunch table area. There will be staff supervision provided for students at that time, as that is when Day Care releases 5-8 students from the Day Care Room. Students who arrive prior to 7:35 A.M. will still need to report to the Day Care Room.

SCRIP

Parents may drop off a completed SCRIP order form with payment at any time during school office hours. The orders will be filled within two days, if we have the correct SCRIP on hand. If we need to place an order, it will be approximately two weeks for your order to be ready for pickup.
Scrip Hours Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 9:30 a.m.

HOMEWORK TABLE PURPOSE

Once school has started, parents are not allowed to go to the classrooms to deliver a forgotten lunch, homework, textbook, P.E. clothes, or any other item. Parents may, however, drop off these items at our “Homework Table” in front of the School Office. Students may check the Homework Table at their Nutrition Break or lunchtime to retrieve these items. Please clearly mark your student’s name and classroom on the items so that someone else does not pick up items in error.
