Drop by the school office to see various sample sizes of both t-shirts, the pull-over sweatshirt, and the tote bag. Ensure that your child can participate in the drama classroom competition on Wednesday, April 1, where we'll see which class has the highest percentage of students wearing "The Lion King” t-shirts and sweatshirts. The K-4th and 5th-8th classes with the most participation will win front row seats for the matinee shows on Wednesday, April 1 and Thursday, April 2. UPCOMING FOOD DRIVE – WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20th & RELAXED DRESS DAY
Every student who brings in a minimum of three (3) food items may come to school that day in Relaxed Dress on Wednesday, November 20th . This is our chance as a community to help people in need. What do we need the most? First, check the expiration dates. Secondly, do not choose anything in a glass jar because we cannot accept those donations. Super important. Then, we need cereal, canned tuna, canned meats, refried pinto beans, spaghetti sauce, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and dry pasta.
*Parents, do you need Family Commitment Hours? We need drivers to the Action Food Pantry in West Covina that day. You too can have relaxed dress! Just kidding. We do need help, so please call the School Office to volunteer as a driver.

SNACK SHACK IS NOW OPEN AFTER SCHOOL 8th GRADE SNACK SHACK PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
Is your 8th grader going on the 8th Grade East Coast trip? Would you like to offset the cost? The 8th Grade Trip Snack Shack Fundraising is officially underway and runs from November 12, 2019 through March 27, 2020. Adults are needed to man the Shack Shack from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. each day. Students also have the opportunity to work and earn funds. Please note the Snack Shack cannot open on any given day unless we have 2 ADULTS signed up to work. SML WINTER HOST FAMILES NEEDED

Please remember to send your students to school with a reusable water container. We have several refilling stations around school dispensing cold water. Let’s set an example of reducing our use of plastic water bottles.

COMPETITION AT WILSON HIGH SCHOOL
Students presented the idea of a pneumatic elevator to help our school become a fully accessiable campus. Their project was multi-tiered with the first elevator to be placed at the back stairs to Nesheim Hall. Eventually the idea would be to add one to the gym and Scott Hall as well. Audrey Bae, John Lugo, Seth Guerrero and Anaisa Mota-Ramirez led the research and presentation of this project. Robot design and programming was led by Frederick Cheung, Marcus Lin, Alexander Yang, and Nathaniel Pereda. Finally, the core values presentation was led by Marcus Lin with John Lugo and Frederick Chueng assisting.

Round 2: Frederick & Nathanael scored 110
Round 3: Alex Yang & John Lugo scored 150
Round 4: Anaisa & Nathanael scored 170
Round 5: John and Seth scored 195!
Overall, we finished 11th place out of 24 teams. The 7th graders really took the lead after the first two rounds and started programming the robot to do extra missions with less than an hour of down time in between the rounds. We’ve never had a team be able to program with such ease knowing we had already scored our projected total of 110. The freedom to create a new “plan of attack,” brought out their creativity and the hard work paid off! It was fun watching this group of 8 students - three 8th graders and five 7th graders work together while having fun and working to strive for a higher score than we already had achieved!
