A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FOR ST. MARK’S STUDENTS AND PARENTS FROM DR. CLARK

As we quickly approach our Christmas Break, we feel the excitement in the air. We extend our blessings and good wishes for each of our students, parents, and guardians. We hope that in the next two weeks, you are able to relax and enjoy some downtime with your family and friends. We wish you a Blessed Christmas and New Year. Please travel safely.

JANUARY TUITION

January tuition 2020 will be due when we return January 6th.  You will have Monday, January 6th through Friday, January 10thto pay your tuition without the late fee. 

A $15 late fee will be added to all accounts on Monday. January 13th.  We accept checks, cash and online billpay.

DAY CARE RATES FOR MINIMUM DAYS AND CHRISTMAS BREAK

Minimum Days / Day Care Rates: The Day Care rate is $25 for students remaining at school on a minimum day schedule regardless of the time that the student is picked up. This rate is charged only for those students who arenoton the monthly, prepaid Day Care rate. There is a “15-minute” grace period before your child will be checked into daycare all days and on either of the early dismissal times of 11:30 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.

Christmas Break Day Care: During the Christmas Break, the day care rates for individual daily use is $50 per day, per child. This rate is charged only for those students who are not on the monthly, prepaid Day Care rate. Please refer to our “Upcoming Events”for our Christmas Break Day Care schedule because we are open only on certain days. Day Care is available during our regular hours from 6:30 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. during the Christmas Break. Students must bring their lunch.

2NDSEMESTER LUNCH CARDS

Reminder to all Students with 1stSemester Lunch Cards – If your student will be needing a 2nd semester lunch card, please be sure to buy one before the 2nd semester begins on January 6, 2020.

CHRISTMAS DRESS WEEK

Dr. Clark has given permission for the students to wear Christmas shirts and sweatshirts.

This is not a relaxed dress week, it is only for Christmas wear.

Only on Wednesday, December 18th  students may wear Christmas inspired hats.

HOLIDAY CLOTHING DRIVE

To all the Families of SML, Student Council sends a loud THANK YOU for your donations. We will be heading to Skid Row, this Saturday, to distribute the items to the homeless. Remember, if you donated items, your student will have relaxed dress on Monday, January 6th, when we return from Christmas vacation. Merry Christmas!

A YEAR-END TAX DEDUCTION – DONATE TO THE ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN

Your donation to the Annual Giving Campaign can be a 2019 tax deduction if it is given by Wednesday, December 18, 2019. This is the last day the School Office will be open before the Christmas break. Your donation allows us to continue our mission here at St. Mark’s – to educate your sons and daughters, to inspire them to be life-long learners, complex thinkers, responsible citizens, and faithful servants of God. Thank you for joining us in our mission by contributing to the Annual Giving Campaign.

K-8 1ST SEMESTER AWARDS ASSEMBLY WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, 1/8/20, AT 1:30 PM IN THE GYM. 

Parents are welcome to attend. We want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to Panda Express, Rubio’s Coastal Grill, Marie Callender’s, In-N-Out Burger, Islands, John’s Incredible Pizza Co, and BJ’s for graciously providing the award certificates for our students!

TAX LETTERS/FLEX SPENDING

If you will be needing any kind of accounting or letters stating your previous year’s expenses, please submit your request to the Office and allow up to two weeks to receive your statement.

CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE FOR LOCAL CHILDREN - A COMMUNITY EFFORT

The Knights of Columbus from St. John Vianney would like to thank all the SML families for their generous donation of toys for those children who are less fortunate.  We at SML know how lucky we are to have so many wonderful families.

ANNUAL CAML (CALIFORNIA MATH LEAGUE) MATH COMPETITIONS

These competitions will be held on campus and you can find past contest samples posted on St. Mark’s website (Blackboard) to prepare for the competitions. www.stmarks.ws.  “Students”tab. “CAML Math Competition”page.

6th, 7th, and 8thGrades:
February 25, 2020, Tuesday 7 A.M. (7thand 8th) 3:30 PM (6th).
This competition is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8thgraders, but students must sign up to compete. Sign-Up/Information form will be available on February 3, 2020.

4thand 5thGrades:
4thand 5thcontest will be offered to all students during regular math class hours after April 15,2020. Specific dates will be announced in late March.

7thand 8thGrades – Algebra 1 Competition:
April 21, 2020, Tuesday.  6:55 A.M
. This competition is open to all 7thand 8thgraders, but students must sign up to compete.  Sign-Up/Information form will be available on March 23, 2020. 

7TH GRADE CATALINA TRIP: PARENT INFORMATION MEETING

The 7th grade Catalina trip meeting will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in Ms. Curtis’ classroom (Room 32, Scott Hall) at 7:15 AM and 7:00 PM.  Both meetings cover the same material and should last about 30 minutes. IMPORTANT NOTE: Anyone interested in being a chaperone for the trip MUST personally attend one of these meetings. The trip is April 27-May 1, 2020.

STUDENTS MUST BRING REUSABLE WATER CONTAINERS TO SCHOOL

Please remember to send your students to school with a reusable water container. We have several refilling stations around school dispensing cold water. Let’s set an example of reducing our use of plastic water bottles.
