Drop by the school office to see various sample sizes of both t-shirts, the pull-over sweatshirt, and the tote bag. Ensure that your child can participate in the drama classroom competition on Wednesday, April 1, where we'll see which class has the highest percentage of students wearing “The Lion King” t-shirts and sweatshirts. The K-4th and 5th-8th classes with the most participation will win front row seats for the matinee shows on Wednesday, April 1 and Thursday, April 2. SCHOOL TOURS FOR 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR
Our school tours for the 2020-2021 school year will begin Thursday, January 9th. If you have any friends interested in SML please have them contact the School Office to set up a tour appointment.
The Student Council is collecting granola bars and bottles of water (16.9 oz) to be used in the lunches given out at the cold weather shelter this month. We need at least 400 of each item. Please drop off your donations in the Fireside Room (kitchen) in the area designated by January 20th. Thank you for your support.
On Saturday, December 21st, members from our Student Council assisted the Works of Power Foundation in their Christmas food and clothing drive. We spent the day in the heart of Los Angeles, assisting the homeless and giving back to a community in need. Thank you for all of your donations.
TAX LETTERS/FLEX SPENDING
If you will be needing any kind of accounting or letters stating your previous year’s expenses, please submit your request to the Office and allow up to two weeks to receive your statement.
ANNUAL CAML (CALIFORNIA MATH LEAGUE) MATH COMPETITIONS
These competitions will be held on campus and you can find past contest samples posted on St. Mark’s website (Blackboard) to prepare for the competitions. www.stmarks.ws. “Students” tab. “CAML Math Competition” page.
6th, 7th, and 8th Grades:
February 25, 2020, Tuesday 7 A.M. (7th and 8th) 3:30 PM (6th). This competition is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, but students must sign up to compete. Sign-Up/Information form will be available on February 3, 2020.
4th and 5th Grades:
4th and 5th contest will be offered to all students during regular math class hours after April 15, 2020. Specific dates will be announced in late March.
7th and 8th Grades – Algebra 1 Competition:
April 21, 2020, Tuesday. 6:55 A.M. This competition is open to all 7th and 8th graders, but students must sign up to compete. Sign-Up/Information form will be available on March 23, 2020.
7TH GRADE CATALINA TRIP: PARENT INFORMATION MEETING
The 7th grade Catalina trip meeting will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in Ms, Curtis’ classroom (Room 32, Scott Hall) If you missed this morning’s meeting, Ms. Curtis will provide the same information tonight at 7:00 PM. Both meetings cover the same material and should last about 30 minutes. IMPORTANT NOTE: Anyone interested in being a chaperone for the trip MUST personally attend one of these meetings. The trip is April 27-May 1, 2020.
STUDENTS MUST BRING REUSABLE WATER CONTAINERS TO SCHOOL
Please remember to send your students to school with a reusable water container. We have several refilling stations around school dispensing cold water. Let’s set an example of reducing our use of plastic water bottles.

The 8th grade boys’ basketball team split games in preseason action. Marcus Lin led the Lions in a 41-27 win over St. John’s, Orange. After trailing most of the game, the boys made a push in the 4th quarter to challenge Friends Christian, but were unable to maintain the momentum in the closing two minutes.
